Bio
Ian Heisters (he/him) is an artist and technologist who works with AI, code, and dance to consider humanity’s relationship with algorithms and technology. His studio specializes in research-oriented projects with mixed-reality, AI, real-time graphics, and computer vision. The studio has led projects with institutions, artists, and global leaders including UC Berkeley, The Office for Creative Research, Greenpeace, Facebook, Jim Campbell, Camille Utterback, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Ian’s performances and installations have shown nationally and internationally at venues including SUPERCOLLIDER (US), Root Division (US), Forum Stadtpark (AT), Goldsmith's University (UK), Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (US), The Wrong Biennale (ES/Online), Counter Pulse (US), and Links Hall (US). He has been a resident artist with CODE (CH) and Counter Pulse (US), and enjoyed collaborations with StratoFyzika (DE), Disappearing Acts (US), and Anna Halprin (US).
A native of Northern California, he is based in the California Bay Area where he tries to spend as much time as possible outdoors with his partner and two sons.
